Tis the season for dressing up your home for the holidays with all the trimming and trappings of the season. When I am decorating for Christmas and I don’t feel like things are coming together because I don’t have enough ornaments or because my garland is getting thin and sparse, I like to make a bunch of easy bows to cover the problem spots with pretty holiday ribbon!
To make a simple bow you will need:
- Roll of wired ribbon
- Pipe cleaners in the same colour as ribbon
Start by cutting your pipe cleaners in half or thirds depending how big you are making your bows. Cut your ribbon triple the length you want your bow at it’s widest part.
Fold the ribbon into thirds towards the middle as shown below.
Twist a length of pipe cleaner around the centre leaving the ends as shown below.
Fluff the loops of the bow and pul the tails downward and adjust them so they are in the location you like. Then snip the ends of the tails. I always snip mine into a V because I can never do a symmetrical angle cut.
Repeat as many times as needed and now you have a pile of bows! Use them on Holiday decor or gifts any time of year!
