One of our favourite rides at Disney World is the Mad Tea Party. It is a nostalgic ride for me and for Penny, it’s fast and spins. Recipe for major excitement. Have you ever looked close at the teacup designs? I think they are pretty fun and also really easy to recreate.
You used to be able to purchase Mad Tea Party tea cups from the Disney Store, but I wanted to try and make one of my own. I wanted to make a mug that I could store pens and pencils in on my desk for some Disney magic when I am working.
You will need:
Mug in you desired colour
Paint pen in desired colour
News paper to protect your work surface
I started by washing and throughly drying my mug. I sketched out some shapes on the sides of the ride vehicles on some scrap paper so I would have a quick reference of what I wanted to draw. It’s also a fun reason to go dig out your old vacation photos!
Start painting on your design with a paint pen. If you make a mistake, if you would quickly you can remove the paint with a wet paper towel and try again.
Allow to fully dry. I had to go over my design twice because I chose to paint white over a teal blue. This made the design pop against the background colour.
And that is it! Now fill your mug with whatever you like! Pens, marker or flowers or a Drink Me potion.
What is your favourite ride at Disney World? Do your kids love any attraction that spins like mine?
