I want to talk to you today about cheese sandwiches. Cheese sandwiches are synonymous with boring zero effort school lunches but thats about to change because I am about to show you how to make the best dang cheese sandwich of your life!
Of your life!
I’m fairly confident about that.
My good friend turned me into halloumi cheese and also showed me how to make this amazing sandwich. I have been enjoying its greatness for years now and I thought I would pass it along.
You will need:
- Buns. I like dense buns better because I toast them in a pan.
- Sliced tomato
- Fresh mint leaves
- Sliced cucumber
- Olive oil
- Halloumi cheese
First slice the buns almost all the way through and then warm a tablespoon of oil in a pan. Place the buns face down and toast in the oil. This takes about 2 to 3 minutes.
And no, not diet friendly!
Now that you have a perfectly toasted bun, slice your halloumi cheese into 1/4 inch thick slices and warm in the pan. Halloumi cheese has a high melting point so the cheese with hold its shape while getting toasty and warm. MmMMmM….
Layer a few pieces of cheese on the bun, then stack your cucumber, tomatoes and mint. And don’t be why with the mint! It makes this sandwich.
Fold that baby up and enjoy! This is BY FAR my favourite sandwich to eat. I am so grateful my friend showed me this delicious piece of heaven on a bun.
If you make this, tell me what you think! And if you have any other Halloumi recipes please share them with me. I am always interested to see how other people enjoy Halloumi cheese!
