Right now I would say we are mid way through getting our house updated and decorated to suit our family. It’s been a long process and a much slower process then we anticipated. I love when we do a small project that makes a big difference because it holds me over a few more weeks before I am chomping at the bit to get another home update crossed off our list.
We decided to put up a really pretty “Welcome” vinyl decal that a friend made for me up on the front door to dress up the entry a little bit. Before we adhered the vinyl, we cleaned the area we were going to stick the vinyl to, really well with an all purpose cleaner and paper towel. Then we made sure that the area we cleaned was very dry. It was 35 degrees out so it wasn’t a long wait!
We then taped off the area to give us a guide of where to place our vinyl. We used the edge of the backing paper to line it up under the window and tape to line up the sides.
I voted Mike to carefully remove all the bubbles from behind the sticker with a credit card. He went over several times to make sure it was perfectly smooth and this also made sure it was really stuck down!
I then slowly peeled the backing off by folding the paper over on its self and carefully pulling to the side.
Done! I love how it looks and I think it makes the door look just a little happier. It’s a bonus that its the first thing I see when I pull in the driveway so it has been holding off some of the urges I have to replace flooring and countertops on the inside of the house!
Have you added anything to your front door to make it more welcoming?
