Week 3 already?!
I feel like I am way behind but at the same time everything is coming together. If you are just tuning in I am participating in the $100 Room Challenge with group of great bloggers. Our goal is to makeover one room in our homes with a budget of $100. This is my Week 1 Before post where I introduced our ultra boring master bedroom. Here you can find the Week 2 Update where we applied wall decals from WallPops and used a whole roll of painter’s tape in the process.
This week I have put together some simple DIY printable art which cost me a grand total of $0.00! Not too shabby for a free project.
What I used:
Freebie vector images from Design Cuts
PicMonkey to bring my images together and to arrange my flower vectors
Card stock for printing my images
2 IKEA Ram frames (I don’t think they carry these anymore) that I had for years and years that were gathering dust in the basement
2 lengths of white ribbon for hanging
If you haven’t visited Design Cuts, go now! Go see all the pretty!!
Design Cuts is a wonderful online marketplace which offers creative folks all sorts of online resources for an insanely good price. And they also offer some beautiful freebie items which is what I used here to make my wall art. I simply layered some floral and greenery vectors together to create my image, printed on card stock to my desired size and used my old frames for hanging. (Not sponsored, I am literally just a super fan).
To hang I am envisioning the prints hanging from small fancy hooks (still have to find those) so I attached a small length of white ribbon to the backs of the frame using a staple gun. RAM frames are very basic and mine came with no hanging hardware so I improvised! I already had the ribbon and staple gun so it had no budget impact.
This is a view with both ribbons attached and ready to hang.
I have already touched on my sunburst mirror from week one. I got this from Home Sense for $12.00 and I wish I got 2 of them.
Last weekend I was taking one of the kiddos to a birthday party when a huge snow squall whipped up and I pulled over at a Giant Tiger discount store to calm my nerves and just get out of the car for a bit. Well what do I find, but a duvet cover and shams in the colour I have been looking all over for and couldn’t find anywhere! Good luck on my part. I also purchased a coordinating throw pillow for $10.00, cause why not.
The final find during my snow squall pit stop was this $10.00 bamboo laundry hamper, originally $55.00! I am going to use this hamper to store our throw blankets which currently live in a lid-less rubbermaid bin next to our dresser. Major upgrade. I am thinking of ways to personalize this a little. Maybe a custom stencil? Monogram?
WallPops Wall Decals: $20.00
DIY Wall Art: $0.00
Throw Pillow: $10.00
Sunburst Mirror: $12.99
CURRENT TOTAL: $72.98
Up Next: I have a couple of ideas for another wall art project, DIY pillow cover, wall hooks, and possibly adding some personalization to the hamper. Wish my budget luck!
