This month I am participating in a fun link up with Erin from Lemons, Lavender and Laundry. I am going to complete my first $100 Room Challenge! The challenge is to makeover one room, in one month with only $100 dollars. I am really excited to take the plunge not only in this fun decorating challenge but in this new blogging experience!
I am going to get to work this month on our master bedroom. It’s bland and dull right now and in some major need of a spring refresh. My 2 biggest challenges to the $100 Room Challenge is going to be staying under 100$ (I’m a shopper!) and figuring out how to start. I haven’t quite figured out my decorating style yet so this will be extra challenging for me!
As you can see I have no art on the walls. Zero. The bed isn’t centred in the room from 4 and a half years ago when we brought our first baby home. We had her pack and play next to the bed for the first 3 weeks and didn’t move it back.
Looking from the other direction, the dresser is storing some artwork and a half dead orchid. We have a nice drawing of the Magic Kingdom on the door courtesy of my sweet 4 year old. The corner has a rubbermaid container loaded with blankets and a snoogle pillow
Yes, the door is being held open by a toy vacuum. The TV area has a mess of wires dangling down the wall. It looks just awful not to mention the new puppy enjoys them too much.
The other corner houses an extra dining chair and it’s where my husband’s hoodies go to die. We have California shutters which I love but no window treatment. You can also get a better view of the spaghetti of wires coming down from our TV.
What I like about the room:
Wall colour (BM Reverie Pewter)
Furniture (Handmade by my Father in Law as a wedding gift)
What I don’t like about the room:
Lack of colour
Wall treatment on bed wall
Artwork, pictures or DIY wall hanging
DIY no sew throw pillows
Low maintenance plants (So low maintenance you might call them….fake?)
I have a few items already that I would like to incorporate into the room. A “But first, Tea!” print, some pineapple wall decals, and a really cute sunburst mirror. These babies already took a chunk out of my $100 budget so it’s time to get crafty.
Well, it’s time for me to get started. I am looking forward to seeing all the inspiring room transformations!
