Welcome back to the last week of the $100 Room Challenge! If you would like more information on the challenge, $100 Room Challenge – Lemons, Lavender and Laundry has all the details! You can catch up on the progress of my “Office in a Living Room” catch up with Week 1 HERE , Week 2 HERE and Week 3 HERE.
And here is a reminder of the room before the challenge began. It was a non space with a plain wall and nothing else. The room was big and other than 1000 toys, relatively empty.
Here is the space now. I moved the couch forward about 12 inches to make room for my chalk painted desk. It was the first time I had used chalk paint and I had selected Rustoleum Chalked Paint in Linen White. You can read all about that process HERE. I love the way it came out and I am glad that I kept the top original.
This is the view of the desk space from the couch. It gets lots of light from the large front window and the grey chair flows nicely with some of the accents on the couch like the grey buffalo check throw pillows.
On the desk I have finally moved my Curio from the kitchen counter to it’s new home on my desk! Yay!! The Curio and kitchen are both happy about this change. On the desk I also added a (fake cause I don’t know how to keep plants alive) boxwood in a copper pot and a little desk clock. I purchased both from Winners.
The artwork was given to us by my mother in law and I absolutely love it. I also think it was the perfect dimensions for the space.
The desk chair was an awesome find in my in-laws barn. Here is a reminder where the chair started.
Here is my chair today. The chair got a thorough scrub down, 3 coats of Rustoleum Chalked Paint in Country Grey. The seat got some new foam and coordinating fabric. I also purchased a white furry accent pillow to dress it up a little.
I will share a post soon on how I painted and recovered the chair.
I like that the chair contrasts with the desk a little bit but overall coordinates with the room. This little office area looks so nice, I need to get the rest of the room dressed up to match!
The only thing I was hoping to also add to the space was a brass desk lamp. I am being really really picky and I haven’y found on that is just right. When I do, I will be sure to share the addition!
I was planning on doing the US/CAD conversion but this project was way under budget. I got everything done for $88.80!
